Danielle Lozon - Transcript

I decided to study in biochemistry because I was very interested in science and math when I was in high school. I am also interested in French so I decided to actually do my degree in biochemistry in French so I could continue with that.

I believe in helping people maintain and improve their health and that is what Health Canada stands for, is maintaining and improving the health of Canadians.

In my current job at Health Canada I review access to information requests. Canadians have a right to access information that concerns their health. I am providing that access. I am providing that information to them. And that’s in the end going to help them to make healthier decisions. To decide which drug product or which medical device is right for them.

I see myself in 5 to 10 years hopefully managing a program that’s even more directly related to a service, providing services to Canadians in nutrition or in physical activity and I feel that the work I have done up to now has given me the knowledge that I’ll need to do that.

Health Canada is a great physical, spiritual place for me to be just because of all of the things that we do outside of our daily work activities. Recently we were given the Cherris Cup for the GCWCC and it is incredible to see the work that was done throughout the campaign.

We also just recently did the Christmas Wish Cloud campaign providing gifts for kids. We were involved in providing clothing to shelters in the Ottawa area and so all of these things make it a nice place to come and work.

Work is fun because I happen to work with a great bunch of people. A very young team working in proprietary and scientific information assessment.

I am learning a lot about the branch, I am learning a lot about Health Canada and I like to learn so I love my job.
