Most injuries can be prevented, and yet injuries remain the leading cause of death and hospitalizations among Canadian children and youth. The Safe Seasons Calendar was designed to provide parents and caregivers with information on how to prevent injuries in a variety of settings. The calendar allowed for information to be delivered at appropriate times throughout the year.
Health Canada developed and distributed Safe Seasons Calendars from 1997 to 2000. Health Canada collaborated with other Government of Canada departments, non-governmental organizations and Today's Parent Magazine on the development of content and the distribution of the calendar.
Parents, grandparents, and caregivers of children aged 1-8.
Each calendar featured twelve safety themes, on such topics as farm safety, road safety and water safety.
Through partnerships with Today's Parent Magazine and more than fifteen key injury prevention organizations, listed below, 200,000 copies Safe Seasons Calendar were delivered directly to Canadian parents and caregivers in 1998, 1999 and 2000.
Safe Seasons Calendars were developed for three years from 1998 - 2000.
