Medical X-Ray and Mammography

The Medical X-Ray and Mammography Division aims to reduce radiation risks from radiological X-rays and improve the quality of mammography in Canada. As part of Health Canada, the Medical X-Ray and Mammography Division

  • sets regulations on the design, construction and performance of radiological X-ray equipment
  • develops guidelines on the use of equipment to protect patients, users, service personnel, and the general public
  • enforces compliance with prescribed regulations and standards
  • provides client consultation on regulatory matters pertaining to radiological X-ray equipment
  • conducts research on the safety and risks of radiological procedures and equipment
