Meeting Notes:

  • Terms of Reference for PSWG have been amended to include new members Dave Bennett from CLC and Sean Griffin of LEAS.
  • Skin/Eye Corrosion/Irritation Discussion Guide
Comment: request that appendices (tables with symbols) be sent as .pdf files
Comment: members need to know options and direction of other sectors in Canada; they assume that other sectors will want to adopt all GHS categories for these hazards.
  • Summer Activities: invite comments on all four discussion guides (acute toxicity, flammable, irritation/corrosion/skin sensitization, remaining physical hazards) through summer. Send comments to all in the PSWG. The discussion guides serve as Issue Papers on the workplan. PMRA will draft a comprehensive proposal in fall for consideration of the PSWG.
Comment: members will want to see proposals of other sectors... to be posted to the web.
  • Ad hoc Expert Group on Environmental hazards (aquatic tox)
Request for nominees. Bob Sebastien will represent PMRA.
  • Chronic health hazard classes
Members discussed formation of an Ad Hoc Working Group for chronic hazard classes, sectors that may be involved and whether there was a need for PSWG participation.
