Title or working title of the regulatory initiative: Administrative Monetary Penalties (Consumer Products) Regulations under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act
Description of the objective:
The Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA) came into force on June 20, 2011. It establishes legislative and regulatory requirements to help protect the public by addressing dangers posed by unsafe consumer products. The Act also established an administrative monetary penalty (AMP) system for compliance and enforcement of the CCPSA and the associated Regulations. The proposed Regulations would prescribe the time and manner in which a penalty would be calculated, modified, and paid as well as the manner in which certain documents referred to in the proposed Regulations must be provided to an individual, a person or the Minister of Health.

Canadians have already participated in
consultations that occurred between March 24, 2012 and June 7, 2012. No further opportunities for consultation are scheduled at this time.
Regulatory Consultation - Proposal for the Making of Administrative Monetary Penalties (AMP) Regulations under the proposed Canada Consumer Product Safety Act were also conducted between August 25, 2010 and November 26, 2010.
