Title or working title of the regulatory initiative: Exemption Regulations (Consumer Products) under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act
Description of the objective:
The Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA) came into force on June 20, 2011. It establishes legislative and regulatory requirements to help protect the public by addressing dangers posed by unsafe consumer products. The proposed Exemption Regulations (Consumer Products) would exempt certain consumer products, certain classes of consumer products or certain classes of persons from certain provisions under the CCPSA related to preparing and maintaining documents, while still protecting the health and safety of Canadians.
Phase I of the proposed Exemption Regulations (Consumer Products) would provide an exemption to retailers who obtain donated consumer products from the record-keeping requirements of the CCPSA.
