Title or working title of the regulatory initiative: Regulations Amending Schedule 2 to the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (TCEP)
Description of the objective:
Children's polyurethane foam (PUF) products that contain tris (2-chloroethyl) phosphate (TCEP) (CAS # 115-96-8) have the potential to cause harmful effects in children under three years of age. The purpose of this proposal is to prohibit products intended for children under three years of age that are made, in whole or in part, of PUF that contains TCEP under Schedule 2 to the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act. This proposal was identified through the Chemicals Management Plan.

Public consultation opportunities:
Canadians have already participated in consultations that occurred between August 22, 2009 and October 21, 2009 regarding a Notice containing a summary of the final Government of Canada Screening Assessment Report for TCEP and the Proposed Risk Management Approach, published in the
Canada Gazette, Part I on February 16, 2008.
In addition, Canadians participated in
consultations that occurred between November 12, 2012 and January 24, 2013.
