Title or working title of the regulatory initiative: Amendments to the Tobacco Products Information Regulations
Description of the objective:
The Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations (SJCSR), upon reviewing recent amendments to the Tobacco Products Information Regulations that were made in 2011, found an inconsistency in the language of the regulations used to describe the placement of toxic emission and constituent statements on packages of cigarette tobacco, kreteks, leaf tobacco and tobacco sticks. The SJCSR has written the Department to request that the regulations be amended to correct the discrepancy. Health Canada is proposing to amend to the Tobacco Products Information Regulations to address comments made by the SJCSR.
