Advisory
2009-180
November 5, 2009
For immediate release
OTTAWA - Health Canada is advising Canadians not to consume Chaotic Beverages sold under the brand names Mind Strike, Fearocity, Elixir of Tenacity and Power Pulse because they are unauthorized products marketed to a vulnerable population (children) with ingredients that may pose a health risk. The drinks are tied to a trading card game, animated TV series and Web site.
The Canadian importer, U&ME Marketing, has initiated a Canada-wide recall of all four brands of Chaotic Beverages at the request of Health Canada. Canadians should not consume these unapproved products, as they have not been assessed for safety, quality and efficacy by Health Canada.
The following ingredients listed on the labels of the four products could pose a potential health risk to children:
These products have the potential to cause temporary adverse events in children although the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote. Parents should not provide these products to their children. Health Canada has not received any adverse reaction reports related to these four products.
Anyone with concerns about their health or the health of a child because of the consumption of these products should speak with their health care professional.
The beverages were sold individually and in packages of 4. The products were available at various retailers across Canada.

All health products approved for sale in Canada will either bear an eight-digit Drug Identification Number (DIN), a Natural Product Number (NPN) or a Homeopathic Medicine Number (NPN or DIN-HM). This authorization indicates that the product has been assessed by Health Canada for safety, effectiveness and quality.
