Children's Health and Safety Campaign

Health Canada is leading a multimedia campaign targeted at Canadian parents which was recently launched in Vancouver B.C.  The Children's Heath and Safety Campaign features key health and safety messages and will encourage parents to visit a new Canadian government web site as a "one stop shop" for expert information on the health and safety of children. Healthycanadians.gc.ca/kids will feature key information from Health Canada, the Public Health Agency of Canada, Transport Canada, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, and Public Safety Canada. 

The website and advertising campaign will feature a wide range of topics including:

• Toy, food, medication and product safety
• Injury prevention
• Cyber safety and bullying
• Nutrition, childhood obesity and physical activity
• Vehicle, road, boating and rail safety
• Environmental health

In addition to the website, additional social media tools and applications are being developed for simple and easy access to relevant health and safety information. 

• Recall Widget: is an application that filters recalls so they can be child-related only.
• Customizable Handbook: using this tool, parents can create a personalized pdf handbook for each child.

Canadian parents want to protect their children but trying to find trusted and up-to-date information on children's health and safety can sometimes be overwhelming.  The Children's Health and Safety campaign provides parents with a trusted source for all information related to the health and safety of their children.
