Hello, I'm Jane Philpott.

As both a physician and as Minister of Health, I know that problematic substance use and addiction are serious and complex health and social issues that can affect anyone.

That's why I value the work of the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse.

The CCSA was created by Parliament to provide national leadership to address substance use in Canada.

By harnessing the power of research, curating knowledge, and bringing together diverse points of view, the Centre is a valuable partner for Health Canada and the government as a whole.

The CCSA is governed by a 13-member volunteer Board of Directors, of whom the chair and four members are appointed by the Governor in Council.

As the Minister responsible for these appointments, I am looking to nominate a Chairperson to set the strategic direction and fulfill Board-mandated governance and fiduciary responsibilities.

If you have the right education and experience related to the field of substance use and addiction, I encourage you to apply.

You can find the guidelines related to this on the Governor in Council Appointments Web site.

As Minister of Health, I share CCSA's commitment to fight addiction and its causes, and will continue to work with the Centre to help improve the health and safety of Canadians and our communities.
