Enforcement of Section 3 of the Hazardous Products (Charcoal) Regulations

This letter is to advise you of acceptable labelling practices to comply with section 3 of the Next link will take you to another Web site Hazardous Products (Charcoal) Regulations.

The Consumer Product Safety Bureau has determined that use of the American warning statement (16 CFR Part 1500.14(6)) would satisfy the requirements set out in section 3 of the Next link will take you to another Web site Hazardous Products (Charcoal) Regulations. Compliance with this section is acceptable only when these additional requirements are met:

  • (i) the label text must be in both English and French.
  • (ii) the size of the label text must remain within the specifications of the Regulations (section 4 of the Next link will take you to another Web site Hazardous Products (Charcoal) Regulations).

The two pictures below are examples of acceptable warnings according to the criteria outlined in this notice.
