Clothing and Accessories

There are many accessories and clothing items sold in Canada that are made specifically for use by children. These products have different requirements than those products made specifically for use by adults.

Under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA), Health Canada regulates accessories and clothing for hazards, such as flammability, and toxicity.

There are some items that are prohibited from sale in Canada. For example, infant self-feeding devices ( Item 5 of Schedule 2 to the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act) are prohibited from sale. Health Canada recommends that infants never be left alone while feeding, as they may choke.
