Testing Services

The Product Safety Laboratory analyses and evaluates products for compliance with the requirements of the Hazardous Products Act and can provide advice to companies on where they can get their product tested.

The Product Safety Laboratory can carry out testing services (at a cost), using Health Canada's standardized test methods, where those services are not available elsewhere. Contract testing by Health Canada does not represent approval, endorsement or indication of compliance with the Hazardous Products Act in any manner whatsoever.

Child-Resistant Lighter Testing

Health Canada is aware of various firms in the United States that have stated they can test child-resistant cigarette lighters and utility lighters according to 16 CFR 1210.4 and 1212.4. By providing this listing, Health Canada is not implying that it has approved, certified or endorsed these firms. This is a non-exhaustive list and other countries and other firms may be able to provide child-resistance lighter testing.
