Under the authority of the Pest Control Products Act, Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA), has added a new use to the product label of Assure II Herbicide, containing technical grade quizalofop-p-ethyl, for condiment and oilseed type oriental mustard. The specific use approved in Canada is detailed on the label of Assure II Herbicide, Pest Control Products Act Registration Number 25462.

A corresponding maximum residue limit (MRL) was proposed in the consultation document published on 7 August 2007, Proposed Maximum Residue Limit PMRL2007 08, Quizalofop-ethyl. Residues of quizalofop-p-ethyl, the resolved (R) isomer, are covered by MRLs established for quizalofop-ethyl, the unresolved isomeric mixture. The PMRA received no comments in response to this consultation.

To comply with Canada's international trade obligations, consultation on the proposed MRLs was also conducted internationally by notifying the World Trade Organization, as coordinated by the Standards Council of Canada. No comments were received as a result of the World Trade Organization consultation.

The following MRL is legally in effect as of the publication date of this document and has been added to the MRLs already established for quizalofop-ethyl.
