Under the authority of the Pest Control Products Act, Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has granted conditional registration to the end-use products Actara 240 SC Insecticide and Actara 25 WG Insecticide, containing technical grade thiamethoxam, for use in Canada on potatoes and pome fruits. The specific uses approved in Canada are detailed on the product lables of Actara 240 SC and Actara 25 WG, Pest Control Products Act Registration Numbers 28407 and 28408, respectively.
Corresponding maximum residue limits (MRLs) were proposed in the consultation document published on 15 August 2007, Proposed Maximum Residue Limit PMRL2007 11, Thiamethoxam. The PMRA received no comments in response to this consultation.
To comply with Canada's international trade obligations, consultation on the proposed MRLs was also conducted internationally by notifying the World Trade Organization, as coordinated by the Standards Council of Canada. No comments were received as a result of the World Trade Organization consultation.
The following MRLs are legally in effect as of the publication date of this document and have been either revised or added to the MRLs already established for thiamethoxam.
