Under the authority of the Pest Control Products Act, Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has established a maximum residue limit (MRL) for bifenazate in or on strawberries to permit the import and sale of food containing these residues.

A corresponding MRL was proposed in the consultation document published on 26 February 2008, Proposed Maximum Residue Limit PMRL2008-02, Bifenazate. The PMRA received no comments in response to this consultation.

To comply with Canada's international trade obligations, consultation on the proposed MRLs was also conducted internationally by notifying the World Trade Organization (WTO), as coordinated by the Standards Council of Canada. No comments were received as a result of the WTO consultation.

The following MRL for bifenazate is legally in effect as of the publication date of this document and is the addition to the MRLs already established for bifenazate.

Residue Definition: 1-methylethyl 2-(4-methoxy[1,1'-biphenyl]-3-yl) hydrazinecarboxylate, including the metabolite diazenecarboxylic acid, 2-(4-methoxy-[1,1'- biphenyl]-3-yl), 1-methylethyl ester
