Under the authority of the Pest Control Products Act, Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has added a new use for sweet potatoes to the product labels of Matador 120EC Insecticide and Warrior Insecticide, containing technical grade lambda-cyhalothrin,. The specific use approved in Canada is detailed on the labels of Matador 120EC Insecticide and Warrior Insecticide, Pest Control Products Act Registration Number 24984 and 26837, respectively.

A corresponding maximum residue limit (MRL) was proposed in the consultation document published on 11 April 2008, Proposed Maximum Residue Limit PMRL2008 03, Lambda-cyhalothrin. The PMRA received no comments in response to this consultation.

To comply with Canada's international trade obligations, consultation on the proposed MRL was also conducted internationally by notifying the World Trade Organization, as coordinated by the Standards Council of Canada. An inquiry regarding the scientific evidence in support of the MRL was received via the World Trade Organization consultation and was responded to with a reference to the Evaluation Report cited in the PMRL.

The following MRL is legally in effect as of the publication date of this document and is in addition to the MRLs already established for lambda-cyhalothrin.

Residue Definition: (S)-α-cyano-3-phenoxybenzyl (Z)-(1R,3R)-3-(2-chloro- 3,3,3-trifluoroprop-1-enyl)-2,2- dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylate and (R)-α-cyano-3- phenoxybenzyl (Z)-(1S,3S)-3-(2-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoroprop- 1-enyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylate, including the epimer, in a 1:1 mixture, (R)-α-cyano-3-phenoxybenzyl (Z)-(1R,3R)-3-(2-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoroprop-1-enyl)-2,2- dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylate and (S)-α-cyano-3- phenoxybenzyl (Z)-(1S,3S)-3-(2-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoroprop- 1-enyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylate
