Under the authority of the Pest Control Products Act, Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has fully registered the end-use product Governor 75WP, containing technical grade cyromazine, for use on potatoes. The specific use approved in Canada is detailed on the label of Governor 75WP, Pest Control Products Act Registration Number 24464.
A corresponding revised maximum residue limit (MRL) was proposed in the consultation document published on 7 May 2008, Proposed Maximum Residue Limit PMRL2008-13, Cyromazine. The PMRA received no comments in response to this consultation.
To comply with Canada's international trade obligations, consultation on the proposed MRL was also conducted internationally by notifying the World Trade Organization, as coordinated by the Standards Council of Canada. No comments were received as a result of the World Trade Organization consultation.
The following revised MRL is legally in effect as of the publication date of this document and is in addition to the MRLs already established for cyromazine.
Established Maximum Residue Limit for Cyromazine
Common Name: Cyromazine
Residue Definition: N-cyclopropyl-1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triamine, including the metabolite 1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6- triamine
Food Commodity / MRL parts per million (ppm)
Potatoes / 0.8
(Replaces existing MRLs for potatoes (0.5 ppm) and dry potato products (1.5 ppm). In the absence of a distinct MRL, all processed potato commodities are covered by the revised MRL for potatoes.)
A complete list of all MRLs established in Canada can be found on the PMRA's MRL webpage.
