Under the authority of the Pest Control Products Act, Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has granted conditional registration to technical grade chlorantraniliprole (Rynaxypyr Technical Insecticide) and the end-use products DuPont Altacor Insecticide and DuPont Coragen Insecticide for use in Canada on leafy vegetables (Crop Groups 4 and 5), fruiting vegetables except cucurbits (Crop Group 8), pome fruits (Crop Group 11), stone fruits (Crop Group 12), small fruit vine climbing (Crop Subgroup 13-07F) and potatoes. See Appendix I for a list of crop group/subgroup commodities. The specific uses approved in Canada are detailed on the product labels of DuPont Altacor Insecticide and DuPont Coragen Insecticide, Pest Control Products Act Registration Numbers 28981 and 28982, respectively.
Corresponding maximum residue limits (MRLs) for chlorantraniliprole were proposed in the consultation document published on 5 June 2008, Proposed Maximum Residue Limit PMRL2008-21, Chlorantraniliprole. The PMRL also included proposed import MRLs for chlorantraniliprole on cucurbit vegetables (see Crop Group 9, Appendix I) and undelinted cottonseed to permit the import and sale of food containing these residues. The PMRA received no comments in response to this consultation.
To comply with Canada's international trade obligations, consultation on the proposed MRLs was also conducted internationally by notifying the World Trade Organization, as coordinated by the Standards Council of Canada. No comments were received as a result of the World Trade Organization consultation.
The following MRLs for chlorantraniliprole are legally in effect as of the publication date of this document.
