Under the authority of the Pest Control Products Act, Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has granted conditional registration to technical grade acequinocyl and the end-use product Kanemite 15 SC Miticide for use on pome fruits (Crop Group 11; see Appendix I). The specific uses approved in Canada are detailed on the product label of Kanemite 15 SC Miticide, Pest Control Products Act Registration Number 28641.
Corresponding maximum residue limits MRLs were proposed in the consultation document published on 19 November 2008, Proposed Maximum Residue Limit PMRL2008-32, Acequinocyl. In addition, import MRLs were proposed for citrus fruits (Crop Group 10; see Appendix I), almonds, pistachios and strawberries that are also being established under this action.
To comply with Canada's international trade obligations, consultation on the proposed MRLs was also conducted internationally by notifying the World Trade Organization, as coordinated by the Standards Council of Canada. The PMRA received no comments in response to these consultations
