Under the authority of the Pest Control Products Act, Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has established a maximum residue limit (MRL) for propylene oxide in or on almonds to permit the import and sale of foods containing these residues.

A corresponding import MRL was proposed in the consultation document published on 31 March 2009, Proposed Maximum Residue Limit PMRL2009-09, Propylene Oxide. The PMRA received no comments in response to this consultation.

To comply with Canada's international trade obligations, consultation on the proposed MRL was also conducted internationally by notifying the World Trade Organization, as coordinated by the Standards Council of Canada. No comments were received regarding the proposed MRL as a result of the World Trade Organization consultation.

The following MRL for propylene oxide takes legal effect as of the publication date of this document.
