Under the authority of the Pest Control Products Act, Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has fully registered the end-use product Betamix ß EC Herbicide, containing technical grade desmedipham and phenmedipham, for use on sugar beets. The specific uses approved in Canada are detailed on the product label of Betamix ß EC Herbicide, Pest Control Products Act Registration Number 28650.
A corresponding maximum residue limit (MRL) was proposed in the consultation document published on 12 January 2009, Proposed Maximum Residue Limit PMRL2009-05, Desmedipham. The PMRA received no comments in response to this consultation.
To comply with Canada's international trade obligations, consultation on the proposed MRL was also conducted internationally by notifying the World Trade Organization, as coordinated by the Standards Council of Canada. No comments were received as a result of the World Trade Organization consultation.
The following MRL is legally in effect as of the publication date of this document.
| Common Name | Residue Definition | MRL (ppm) | Food Commodity |
|---|---|---|---|

A complete list of all MRLs established in Canada can be found on the Maximum Residue Limits for Pesticides webpage in the Pesticides and Pest Management section of Health Canada's website.
