Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) initiated the re-evaluation of (z)-11-tetradecenyl acetate in July 2012 in accordance with DIR2012-02, Re-evaluation Program Cyclical Re-evaluation. (Z)-11-tetradecenyl acetate is a straight chain lepidopteran pheromone (SCLP) for use on terrestrial food crops (USC 14) that controls pest moths by disruption of mating behaviour. It was first registered in Canada in 1997. This Re-evaluation Note provides the details regarding the conclusion of the (z)-11-tetradecenyl acetate re-evaluation.
Following the initiation of this re-evaluation, the registrant of (z)-11-tetradecenyl acetate technical grade active ingredient in Canada indicated their intention to discontinue their registration. With this discontinuation, there is no remaining technical grade or end-use product registrations for (z)-11-tetradecenyl acetate alone. One technical grade product that is composed of seven SCLPs, one of which is (z)-11-tetradecenyl acetate, was assessed as a new active ingredient and registered in 2008. Since this combination active ingredient was assessed recently, a re-evaluation is not required at this time and it will be re-evaluated, in future, in accordance with the cyclical schedule.
An assessment of (z)-11-tetradecenyl acetate alone is therefore not required and the re-evaluation is considered complete.
