The Health Products and Food Branch Inspectorate (Inspectorate)'s current role deals not only with marketed health products for human use but also with veterinary use (excluding veterinary biologics). This includes assessing the fabrication, packaging/labeling, testing, importation, distribution and wholesaling of veterinary products with respect to compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices Standards for both domestic and foreign establishments. In addition, the Inspectorate issues Drug Establishment Licences for Canadian companies engaging in any of the above mentioned activities. When required, a foreign site annex is attached to the licence which indicates what facilities the Canadian company may import from.
