Natural Health Product Licence Application Form

Web-based Natural Health Product Licence Application Form, version 4.0

Released on June 15, 2020, the Natural Health Product (NHP) Licence Application form, version 4.0 allows you to fill an NHP licence application online. The online form can:

  • populate product and monograph data from the Natural Health Products Ingredient Database (NHPID) to save time
  • save completed application forms as an .html file, which can be sent to the Natural and Non-prescription Health Products Directorate (NNHPD) as a part of a complete application package
  • allows for validation of information in completed compendial class I applications against the monograph before the application is finalized an submitted to the NNHPD (version 4 only).

System Requirements

For best results, we recommend using the Natural Health Product Licence Application form in Firefox 54+ or Chrome 60+. JavaScript must be enabled in your browser.

Form Versions

If your product application is made against a monograph or if the monograph(s) you are using appear in the list of validation-supported monographs, you must use version 4.

If the monograph(s) that are applicable to your product do not appear in the list of Validation-supported monographs, you must use version 3.

Information about ingredients

You can refer to the Natural Health Products Ingredients Database (NHPID) to find out what medicinal and non-medicinal ingredients can be used in NHPs. The NHPID also includes standard terminology used in the Natural Health Products Online System, monographs, and abbreviated labelling standards.

If you would like to propose a new ingredient or propose a change to an ingredient in the NHPID, please submit an Ingredients Database Issue Form. Your request will be assessed by the NNHPD. Submitting an amendment

If you have already submitted an NHP licence application for which you have received a licence, and you would like to amend it, please use the Natural Health Product Licence Amendment and Notification Form. For instructions on how to prepare and submit an amendment, please see the Natural Health Product Licence Amendment and Notification Form User Guide.

If you run into problems with the Amendment Notification Form, please use the Electronic Product Licence Application Form (ePLA) to submit your amendment. This alternative format will be available until January 1, 2021.
