General Information
Health Canada's Health Products and Food Branch (HPFB) is pleased to hold our third annual International Regulatory Forum to be held in Ottawa, Canada from October 24-28, 2011. Based on increasing international interest, the HPFB International Regulatory Forum is intended to provide an efficient and integrated opportunity for the exchange of information on health product regulation between Health Canada and counterpart regulators internationally.
The Forum program is designed to reflect the most common and relevant areas of interest to our international regulatory colleagues. To encourage open and interactive regulatory discussions, participation in the Forum is only open to Regulatory Authorities internationally. Through this approach, we hope to create a dynamic learning environment where all participants have the opportunity to learn from each others' regulatory experiences and expertise.
To appeal to a broad range of international regulatory colleagues, the HPFB International Regulatory Forum will address the Canadian regulation of health products throughout the pre- and post-market life cycle. Specific product lines to be examined will include: pharmaceuticals, biologics and medical devices. Sessions will involve individual and panel presentations as well as break-out sessions by product line, where appropriate. While food, veterinary drugs and natural health products will not be addressed in this Forum, they may be incorporated into future Forums and some documentation regarding the programs may be available in pamphlet format to take home.
Since Canada is a bilingual country, simultaneous translation will be offered in both English and French and this year we will also be offering simultaneous translation in Spanish. Documentation will be available in both official languages and where possible, in Spanish. There is no cost to register for the HPFB International Regulatory Forum. However, all travel, accommodation and other costs related to Forum attendance, as well as logistical arrangements for the visit, will be the responsibility of participants.

The final program is currently under development and will posted on the Health Canada website by the end of August 2011. You may find the draft version on the Health Canada website.
Additional Features of the Program:
There will be an Open Panel Session with senior HPFB Officials on the final day of the Forum, to field remaining questions related to the regulation of pharmaceuticals, biologics, and medical devices.
A group social activity, a meet and greet session, will be planned for Sunday the 23rd of October, 2011 (optional participation).

Once HPFB has processed your registration, you will be sent an invitation letter and additional information. If you do not receive an invitation letter within two weeks, please contact us at the above Email or by telephone (613-946-6839) to ensure we have received your registration.
In your invitation letter, you will be asked to confirm your participation in the Forum.
While the current intent is to make this Forum available to all interested regulators, participation may be limited based on the size of the venue. In the event of very high demand, participation will be granted on a first come first served basis. We therefore suggest that interested participants submit their registration forms as early as possible. Since the final Forum program is still under development, we would also encourage interested participants to identify on the registration form any regulatory topics of specific interest. We will do our best to accommodate your suggestions.
Venue and Hotel Information
The HPFB International Regulatory Forum will be held from October 24-28, 2011 in Ottawa, Canada. The venue will be located in downtown Ottawa (about 15 minutes drive from the airport) within walking distance to many hotels, restaurants, shopping and tourist attractions and in close proximity to bus and taxi services.
