Resources for Government and Industry
Our Guidance Documents are an excellent starting point for conducting human health risk assessments, and are used by government and industry. We also have a number of fact sheets and other public involvement tools to facilitate stakeholder involvement at federal contaminated sites.
Fact Sheets
Fact sheets are a quick and easy way to get the basics about issues pertaining to contaminated sites. They also contain valuable contact information.
Public Involvement Tools
Health Canada has developed a series of tools that are designed to assist in the development and delivery of effective public involvement plans. Guidance documents relating to Public Involvement are also available. Please contact us for copies of these tools:
- Go/No Go Checklist: this checklist assists with the decision around whether to proceed with a public involvement initiative.
- Public Involvement Plan Template: this template provides the background information and context for each of the elements of a public involvement plan.
- Public Involvement Stakeholder Mapping Tool: this form helps identify linkages between stakeholder groups.
- Public Involvement Stakeholder Capacity-Building Checklist: this check list helps to identify the capacity stakeholders have to participate in the process in a meaningful way.
- Public Involvement Plan Budget Template: this form provides guidance on the elements of a public involvement plan that may need to be included in the site budgeting process.
- Public Involvement Evaluation Plan Checklist: this checklist outlines the key elements of a public involvement evaluation plan.
Contractor Report and Publications
The Contaminted Sites Division has commissioned a number of contractor reports relating to human health risk assessment. Also, members of the Contamianted Sites Division frequently publish their work in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. These contractor reports and journal publications are available upon request.
