This graph illustrates the decreases in core body temperature in degrees Celcius when cooling intervention is started early (10 minutes) in comparison to late intervention (50 minutes). If early intervention is initiated, the core body temperatures drops back to normal levels after 70 minutes, whereas if intervention is initiated late, after 110 minutes, the body is still not back in normal core temperature range. The critical level is shown at 39.75 degrees Celcius. Early intervention allows the core body temperature to reach below this critical level after 45 minutes, whereas it takes at least 95 minutes for core body temperature to be below this critical level if cooling intervention is initiated late.
