The information given in this section was included in this report for the benefit of those laboratories who use gross beta counting of urine samples for screening purposes.
Table I summarizes the parameters (counting instrument, counting time, sample volume, cocktail volume and window settings) used by the laboratories that reported results for this part of the intercomparison. The participants may find this information useful for fine-tuning their screening procedures.
Figure I shows the level of counts in each window, and also indicates the ability of each laboratory to reproduce the counting pattern for each aliquot of the urine sample.
Figure II presents the spectrum obtained from the beta emissions of the radionuclide spikes in the urine sample.
