As with any instrumentation system, improvements in design are always possible. An additional antenna will be added to the next generation of GLOBE equipment that is able to receive signals from directly overhead. This will enable accurate measurements to be taken directly under or at closer distances to the base station. Also, both antennae will cover both frequency bands, simultaneously. This will simplify the architecture of the system and reduce the overall size. Upgrades to the software including versions, which run on Windows operating systems, are planned as well.
It is foreseeable that units of the GLOBE system may be made available at minimal cost to interested Canadian organizations for the purpose of measuring exposures in their own region. Qualified staff, capable to operate the system would be required, although it is expected that the system will be sufficiently user friendly to allow operation by those with the most basic skills.
