Description of the equation used to calculate the rate of gastrointestinal illness from enterococci concentrations
The seasonal risk of gastrointestinal illness for fresh waters (y) is calculated by adding the y-intercept value of the regression line (0.20) to the product of the slope of the line (12.17) multiplied by the seasonal geometric mean enterococci concentration (x).
