Description of the equation used for calculating the Maximum Limit for total cyanobacteria

The maximum limit for total cyanobacteria is 100,000 cells per millilitre. This value is calculated by taking the maximum limit for microcystins (previously calculated) of 20 micrograms per litre and multiplying it by 10 raised to the exponent of minus 3 (-3). This value is then divided by a value of 2 times 10 raised to the exponent of minus 7 (-7) micrograms per cell.
