Background

The purpose of the Policy Intent for Issuing an Interim Letter of No Objection (iLONO) for Processing Aids is to describe Health Canada's policy for issuing an interim letter of no objection (iLONO) for a substance or product that meets the definition of a processing aid, according to the Food Directorate's Policy for Differentiating Food Additives and Processing Aids.

This policy would serve to potentially expedite the availability to the food industry of processing aids that have been assigned priority handling according to Health Canada's Policy of Priority Scheduling and Expedited Handling of Submissions that have the Capacity to Enhance Food Safety.
