Food Expert Advisory Committee

At the meeting of June 1-2, 2011, members of the Advisory Committee decided to rename the Committee as the Food Expert Advisory Committee (FEAC) to better reflect its mandate.

Public Involvement and Partnerships

The Food Expert Advisory Committee (FEAC) was established to provide Health Canada's Food Directorate (FD) with broad expert advice on its regulatory and administrative oversight of foods. It also provides advice on matters relating to strategic planning, priority-setting and environmental scanning of issues related to food safety, nutritional quality or other issues related to the FD's mandate.

Membership

The Food Expert Advisory Committee is composed of 20 members with expertise in scientific fields relevant to the mandate of the Food Directorate, including but not limited to: nutritional sciences, microbiology, food chemical safety, toxicology, food science, epidemiology, biostatistics, biotechnology, and nanotechnology from the following sectors: research/academia, health professional/regulatory, industry, patient and consumer groups.
