Dr. Paul Paquin, Ph.D., is currently a full professor in the Department of Food Sciences and Nutrition and an Investigator for the "Institut des nutraceutiques et des aliments fonctionnels" (INAF) at Université Laval. During 2007-2008, he spent a year studying and conducting research with Tonic, a consulting firm that specializes in innovation accompaniment for companies and associations working in the agri-food, nutrition, and health sector. From 2003 to 2007, he served as Vice-Dean of Research for the Agricultural and Food Sciences Faculty at Université Laval. He has served as Founder and Director of the STELA Dairy Science and Technology Centre (1985); Co-Founder of Advitech Solution, a biotechnology company (1994); and Founder and 1er Director of INAF (1997). He is an active researcher in the dairy protein and functional beverage sector.
Dr. Paquin has authored more than 250 scientific publications and research reports, and has spoken at more than 300 conferences. He holds patents for four inventions, and has sat on a number of national and international committees. He currently occupies the position of President of the International Dairy Federation (IDF) - Canada Section, and is a member of the International Standing Committee on Dairy Science and Technology with IDF International. He has been appointed as Chairman of the Action Team on sodium in cheeses for IDF, with expert scientists from more than 30 countries. He is also a member of several committees, including the Expert Scientific Advisory Committee for the Nutrition Section of Dairy Farmers of Canada. He sits on boards of directors for organizations in the biofood and health sector, he has recently been appointed has a member of the board of the Canadian Agri-food Policy Institute CAPI.

Dr. Keith Mussar is Vice President Regulatory Affairs and Chair, Food Committee for the Canadian Association of Importers and Exporters (I.E.Canada) and is also the Chair of the association's Food Committee. As President of Keith Mussar & Associates, he assists numerous importers and domestic food manufacturers to comply with Canada's food regulations and successfully launch products into the Canadian market. He has over 30 years experience in food manufacturing, marketing, supply chain management and regulatory affairs.
Dr. Mussar has held corporate management positions with Kraft-General Foods, Labatt Brewing Company, the Weston Foods Group and Cadbury Schweppes. He has developed the food industry's "best practices" for, and trained over 3000 Canadian companies on, the efficient recall of unsafe food products from the supply chain.
A graduate of the University of Waterloo, Dr. Mussar holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and is frequently consulted as the food industry expert on biotechnology. He served on multi-stakeholder groups that developed the national standards for the labelling of genetically engineered foods, the production and labelling of organic food, and food safety. Dr. Mussar serves as the food industry advisor on Canada's National Chemicals Management Plan Stakeholder Council and on the Health Canada Environmental Assessment Working Group.

Dr. Mary G. Alton Mackey BHSc., MSc., PhD, is currently an international consultant in food and nutrition with extensive national and international experience in health, food and nutrition policy and program areas, and evaluation. She has conducted research into the public opinions of Canadians and on readability of food and other labels. She was a professor of nutrition in the School of Dietetics and Human Nutrition at McGill University. At Memorial University of Newfoundland she directed food and nutrition research and implementation of programs.
Dr. Alton Mackey has served as Chair of the Food Committee for the Consumers Association of Canada and has been active as a researcher for Consumer Interest Alliance Inc. She was a member of the Canadian Biotechnology Advisory Committee and was the co-chair of the working groups on Genetically Modified Food and on Biotechnology and Health Innovation. She has been a member of the Board of Directors of Dietitians of Canada (Canadian Dietetic Association), Canadian Council for Food and Nutrition, and Newfoundland Dietetic Association, among other organizations. She is a member of the Dietitians of Canada Food Regulatory Committee.
She has published both in scientific journals and in the public press on varied topics. She has worked extensively with communities of first nations in research and in program development and implementation in foods and nutrition.

Herb Barbolet is an Associate with both the Centre for Sustainable Community Development and the Dialogue Centre at Simon Fraser University. He has been active in community development for more than 30 years. Mr. Barbolet was a founding member of numerous non-profits, cooperatives and limited companies. He helped found and works with Local Food First, a consortium of organizations developing a business approach to re-localizing our food supply. He also is a founding member of the Vancouver Food Policy Council, a Research Associate with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, and was the founder and executive director of FarmFolk/CityFolk.
Mr. Barbolet has a B.A. in Urbanism, a Master's in Community Development, and doctoral studies in Community Development and later in Community Planning and Political Economy. He has taught food and agriculture courses and classes at a host of universities and colleges. He appeared regularly for 13 years on CBC radio Almanac's Food Panel.
For four years he was a member on a sub-committee of the Canadian Biotechnology Advisory Committee dealing with Genetically Modified Foods and Feeds.

Josh Brandon is a living green coordinator with Resource Conservation Manitoba, a non-profit environmental group based in Winnipeg. He was an agriculture campaigner with Greenpeace Canada from 2006 to 2008 working on issues including genetically engineered crops and agriculture and climate change. He is currently a member of a working group to develop a Food Policy Council for the City of Winnipeg.
Mr. Brandon holds a B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology from Simon Fraser University. He has been on the steering committee of the national agriculture caucus of the Canadian Environmental Network since 2007 and chaired this committee since 2009. In 2008, he participated in the International Assessment of Agricultural Science and Technology for Development in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Carl Carter is currently the Director of Regulatory Affairs with the Canadian Health Food Association (CHFA). He has 29 years of regulatory, policy and management expertise in the consumer product and trade association sectors, and extensive Canadian and international experience with the regulation and compliance of consumer products, including natural health products, foods, drugs, and cosmetics. He has extensive experience in working with broad stakeholder committees, as well as numerous trade association committees, including former Chair and Board member of a national consumer products trade association.
Mr. Carter has an Honours B.Sc. (Chemistry & Biology) from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a Certified Association Executive. He is currently a member of the Natural Health Product Program Advisory Committee and previously Co-Chaired the joint Health Canada/Environment Canada Environmental Assessment Working Group.

Albert Chambers is the President of Monachus Consulting, a firm he established specializing in the provision of policy and communications advice to organizations in the agri-food industry. He is also the Executive Director of the Canadian Supply Chain Food Safety Coalition, which represents national and provincial industry associations and facilitates dialogue within the agri-food industry and with all levels of government on the development and implementation of a national, co-ordinated approach to food safety.
Mr. Chambers has thirty-seven years experience as an advisor to companies, national organizations, cabinet ministers and parliamentary committees. He has extensive experience, starting in 1990, in the development of a new Canadian approach to food safety and traceability. He received a B.A. from the University of Saskatchewan, and a B.Phil. from the University of York, in England.
Mr. Chambers was the lead author of the introductory guide, ISO 22000 Food Safety Management Systems - An easy-to-use checklist for small business. He is also Chair of the Standards Council of Canada's Canadian Advisory Committee on Agri-Food and chairs its subcommittee on the ISO 22000 series of standards. Since 2003, he has led the Canadian delegations to ISO meetings on food safety management, requirements for audit and certification of food safety systems, traceability in the feed and food. He is a member of the Global Food Safety Initiative's Technical Working Group on Auditor Competency.

Effective July 1st, 2011, Jackie Crichton returned to consulting. Immediately prior to her return to consulting Jackie held the position Vice President Food Safety and Labelling with the Retail Council of Canada and prior to that the Canadian Council of Grocery Distributors. Jackie has over 30 years experience in the food industry and during her career has provided quality assurance, food safety and regulatory affairs expertise to industry associations, supermarkets, restaurants, production facilities and warehouse and distribution centres.
Ms. Crichton holds an Honours B. Sc. in Microbiology from the University of Guelph with post-graduate studies in the areas of food, industrial and medical microbiology, and environmental biology. Jackie is co-chair of the Canadian Supply Chain Food Safety Coalition and has been a member of the Global Food Safety Initiative Technical Working Group. She was also a member of the Health Canada Sodium Working Group and is a past Director of the Canadian Partnership for Consumer Food Safety Education.

François Décary-Gilardeau worked as an Agri-Food Analyst for many years at Option consommateurs, where he developed his expertise in food safety and in commercial law and business practices in the food industry. Since June 2011, Mr. Décary-Gilardeau has been focusing his professional activities on environmental conservation and regional development. He continues to promote and defend the interests of consumers, most notably by doing volunteer work for Option consommateurs. During his studies, he worked for the Chaire de responsabilité sociale et de développement durable (social responsibility and sustainable development chair) at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM).
Mr. Décary-Gilardeau earned a Political Science Degree from Université de Montréal, and is currently pursuing post-graduate studies at UQAM's Institut des sciences de l'environnement. He is trilingual, and has studied in Mexico and the United States.
In addition to his professional activities, Mr. Décary-Gilardeau is highly committed to organizations that are active in civil society. Backed by his experience with associations and universities, he is often invited to lead workshops, speak at conferences, and comment on current events.

Dr. Mansel W. Griffiths was appointed to the Dairy Farmers of Ontario/NSERC Industrial Research Chair in Dairy Microbiology in the Food Science Department, University of Guelph in 1990. He is also Program Chair for the M.Sc. in Food Safety and Quality Assurance, and is the Director of the Canadian Research Institute for Food Safety. His current research interests include rapid detection of foodborne pathogens, factors controlling growth and survival of microorganisms in foods, and beneficial uses of microorganisms.
Dr Griffiths obtained his BSc degree from North East London Polytechnic and his PhD from Leicester University. He was the recipient of the International Association of Food Protection Maurice Weber Laboratorian of the Year for 2002.
Dr Griffiths has authored more than 250 peer-reviewed articles and serves on the editorial boards of several leading food microbiology journals. He serves on the Expert Scientific Advisory Committee for Dairy Farmers of Canada and chairs the Canada IDF Coordinating Committee on Food Safety, and serves as a member of the Food Safety Committee of the Canadian General Standards Board. He sat on the Expert Advisory Committee of the Listeriosis Investigative Review chaired by Sheila Weatherhill in 2009 and was recently appointed to the newly established Maple Leaf Foods Advisory Council.

Nyall Hislop is an Environmental Health Officer with Alberta Health Services in Edmonton. In 2009, Mr. Hislop was appointed Adjunct Professor with Concordia University-College where he teaches applied courses to aspiring Environmental Public Health Professionals. Previously, he worked nearly six years in Edmonton's inner-city and was promoted to the position of Food Protection / Disease Control Specialist in 2002. In that capacity, he endeavoured to improve syndromic and event-based surveillance for gastroenteritis & suspected foodborne illness, and research food safety initiatives for implementation and application in the field of food protection. In 2006 he became Senior Advisor for the Safe Food Program.
Mr. Hislop obtained his Bachelor of Science in 1995 and earned his after-degree in Environmental Health in 1997 from Concordia University-College. In 2005, he completed his Master's Degree in Epidemiology at the University of Alberta. He has authored publications in the Journal of Food Protection, the Canadian Journal of Public Health, Environmental Health Review, and the Journal of Environmental Health.

Mike Horwich is the Director, Food Protection and Enforcement, Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture. In his current position, he directs a pasture to the plate food protection program within the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture, holding the position of Administrator of both the Health Protection Act and Nova Scotia Meat Inspection Act. He is also responsible for departmental emergency preparedness and is a member of the Nova Scotia Emergency Management Team. Over his career, Mr. Horwich has worked in the Nova Scotia Departments of Health, Environment, Agriculture and Fisheries. He has been extensively involved with legislative, regulatory and standards development both nationally and provincially in the field of food safety.
Mr. Horwich trained in public health at Ryerson Polytechnical University and also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree and Master of Public Administration Degree from Dalhousie University.

Dr. Simone Lemieux has been a full professor at the Food Sciences and Nutrition Department at Université Laval for the past 13 years as well as a researcher at the INAF, where she specializes in the nutritional treatment of obesity and its complications. She obtained a bachelor's degree in nutrition at Université Laval, then a master's degree in physical activity sciences followed by a doctorate in physiology, also at Université Laval. Following this, she completed two years of postdoctoral studies at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Lemieux has received research funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Canadian Diabetes Association and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. She has published over 120 articles in scientific magazines and has participated in the training of more than thirty graduate students.

Jim McCarthy, Ph.D., was the Executive Director of the Canadian Celiac Association from 2007-2012. The Canadian Celiac Association is dedicated to providing services and support to persons with celiac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis through programs of awareness, advocacy, education and research. A scientist in the healthcare field by training, Dr. McCarthy's resume includes scientific management positions with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Ortho Pharmaceutical and Diagnostics Canada, as well as many years of senior leadership experience with the Canadian Standards Association and Electro-Federation Canada. He has considerable experience building consensus across a wide range of interests, and at the grassroots level.
Dr. McCarthy's background on both the staff and volunteer side of national and international organizations includes a recent, long-term role as Chair of the Advisory Committee on Trade with the Standards Council of Canada.

Dr. George M. Paterson worked for many years for the Canadian government in a wide variety of scientific and senior managerial positions including Director-General, Commodity and Food Industry, at Agriculture and Agri-food Canada (1990-95) and Director-General, Food, at Health Canada (1996-2000). In 2000, he joined the newly-established UK Food Standards Agency where he was responsible for the development and delivery of the Agency's food safety and nutrition program throughout Scotland. He retired in 2009 but continues to do non-executive and consulting work.
Dr. Paterson is a graduate of Edinburgh University, where he obtained BSc. and PhD degrees, and carried out post-doctoral research at the National Research Council in Ottawa.

Francy Pillo-Blocka, RD FDC, combines her expertise in science, nutrition and consumer research with her passion for communications in her new role as a half time freelance consultant. She works half time for AboutKidsHealth at Sick Kids Hospital as a nutrition educator developing the nutrition content for this web-site. She is the past President and CEO of the Canadian Council of Food and Nutrition. The Council was a national, non-profit organization which advocated for evidence-based food and nutrition policy in Canada to advance the nutritional health and well-being of Canadians. It is perhaps best known for its Tracking Nutrition Trends Surveys which examined adult consumers' knowledge, attitudes and behaviours concerning food and nutrition. Prior to that, Mrs. Pillo-Blocka worked at Toronto's Sick Kids Hospital combining 10 years in patient care with practice-based research, followed by six years in corporate development.
Mrs. Pillo-Blocka is a registered dietitian and has received a number of awards including, in 2007, the honorable designation of Fellow of Dietitians of Canada and in 2009, Alumni Award of Distinction from Ryerson University.

Dr. Raghavan is currently a Professor at the Department of Bioresource Engineering at McGill University, a position that he has held since 1987. He has much expertise in the development and implementation of post-harvest technologies and methods for handling, drying, heat treating, and storing of biomaterials, as well as value-addition to produce. Furthermore, as director of three CIDA funded projects and collaborator in other international project, he has considerable experience in the transfer of this technology to address food security and food safety issues in India, West Africa and Ethiopia.

Dr. Philip Schwab, Ph.D., is Senior Manager, Federal Government Affairs for Abbott Canada where he is responsible for leading federal policy initiatives for the company. In his prior position as Vice-President, Industry Relations at BIOTECanada, he worked with member companies in the health, vaccine, agriculture and industrial biotechnology sectors to develop policy positions and to communicate industry priorities to government and industry decision makers. Prior to joining BIOTECanada, Dr. Schwab served as Director of Programs at Genome Canada, where he coordinated the scientific review processes for competitive programs across the spectrum of genomics and proteomics research. For over ten years he served as a science policy and legislative affairs advisor at the United States Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC and as a professional staff member on Capitol Hill.
Dr. Schwab holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Plant Breeding and Genetics with a minor in conservation biology from the University of Minnesota and a B.S. degree from Michigan State University.

David Skinner is a biochemist working in the health care field, and has held the position of President for Consumer Health Products Canada (formerly NDMAC) since 1983. He spent his early career conducting practical research and in 1979 joined Consumer Health Products Canada. He has been involved in major health care reform initiatives such as the Provincial Health Commissions, Public service management audits and numerous Federal Advisory Committees on Natural Health Products.
Dr. Skinner received a B.Sc. (Honours), and pursued his graduate studies in Science and Business in the U.S. and Canada. He has published research papers in a broad range of periodicals and has served on several advisory committees to governments, including federal committees to develop national health care policies. Dr. Skinner's current appointments include board member for the World Self-Medication Industry. Dr. Skinner has previously held appointments as Co-chair of the Management Advisory Committee to the Assistant Deputy Minister of Health; to the Advisory Committee to the Minister for International Trade; the Senior Management Review Committee, Health Canada; the Canadian Standards Association; a Founding Director of the Canadian Electronic Data Interchange; member of the Industry Liaison Committee for Natural Health Products; and, member of the Natural Health Products Directorate Management Advisory Committee.

Dr. Rickey Yada received his PhD from the Department of Food Science at the University of British Columbia in 1984. He has served as Chair of the Department of Food Science and as the Assistant Vice President Research, both at the University of Guelph. He is presently a Professor in the Department of Food Science, a Canada Research Chair in Food Protein Structure and the Scientific Director of the Advanced Foods and Materials Network in Canada. He has participated on numerous research awards panels and committees, both at the national and international levels. Among other activities, he is the Chair of the Scientific Council, International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST), is the North American Editor for Trends in Food Science and Technology and is on editorial boards for several journals. He is the author of over 170 refereed journal publications and several book chapters. Dr. Yada is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Food Science and Technology, International Academy of IUFoST and the Institute of Food Technologists.

Mary Ann Binnie has over 20 years experience as a nutrition consultant to the Canadian meat industry. Over this period she has been involved in numerous nutrition and health policy initiatives including revisions to Canada's Food Guide, review of nutrient content claims and sodium reduction. She was a member of Health Canada's Multi-Stakeholder Sodium Working Group and chairs the Canadian Meat Council's Sodium Working Group.
Mrs. Binnie is actively involved in a variety of committees including the Network on Healthy Eating, Canadian Meat Science Association and the International Meat Secretariat's Nutrition and Health Committee. As a professional home economist, Mrs. Binnie is a member of the London, Toronto and Ontario Home Economics Associations. She graduated from the University of Guelph with a degree in Applied Human Nutrition.

Dr. Campbell is a Professor of Medicine, of Physiology and Pharmacology and of Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary and chairs the PAHO salt reduction expert group. He is the past President of the Canadian Hypertension Society (1999-2000), Blood Pressure Canada, (1996-1999 and 2006-2010) and the Canadian Society for Clinical Pharmacology (2002-2004). Dr Campbell initiated the Canadian Hypertension Education Program (CHEP) in 2000 and chaired it for 7 of its first 10 years. CHEP developed, and implemented Canadian hypertension recommendations and evaluated their impact. In 2010-2011, Dr Campbell chaired the development of a Pan Canadian Framework for hypertension prevention and control and was also on the 1999 Canadian hypertension strategic planning committee. Dr Campbell is a past chair of the Alberta, Ministers Expert Committee on Drugs and Therapeutics (2002-2004) and is a former Head (1994-2000) and Chief of General Medicine (1994-1999) at the University of Calgary and the Calgary Health Region. Dr Campbell was on the steering committee and co-chaired the Risk Factor committee for the Canadian Heart Health Strategy 2007-2009 and was on the executive of the Health Canada Intersectoral Sodium Reduction Committee and a member of its four subcommittees (2007-2009). In addition Dr Campbell chaired and then co-chaired the committee to integrate the Canadian Hypertension Society, Blood Pressure Canada and the Canadian Hypertension Education Program into Hypertension Canada in 2009-2010 and initially was a member of the board and operations committee of Hypertension Canada in 2010-2011.

Sherry Casey is with Loblaw Companies Limited as Senior Director, Regulatory and External Affairs. In this role, Sherry provides the business with strategic and policy direction related to all regulatory and technical issues for all private label products including President's Choice and no name brands. Additionally, Sherry provides compliance oversight for consumer goods in all areas of the business and participates in government relations activities. Sherry also participates in numerous external and internal committees to advance technical issues for the business and consumers including: RCC Food Safety and Regulatory committee; FMI Food Protection Committee member; FMI Sustainable Seafood Working Group; Seafood Value Chain Round Table member; Pulse Industry Round Table member; Agri Sub-committee on Food Safety; CGSB Technical committee on Organic Agriculture; Import Export Canada Food Committee Member. Past committees include: Canadian Council of Food and Nutrition Board member and Finance chair; Loblaw Companies Limited Corporate Social Responsibility committee; Organic Value Round Table member. Sherry has been with Loblaws for 23 years and has held a number of progressive positions in the technical areas including regulatory and quality assurance. During her tenure, Sherry was instrumental in developing a brand specific comprehensive nutrition information panel used on packaging from 1994 to 2003, she has played a significant role in the development of their nutrition brand President's Choice Blue Menu, and further, played key roles in their environment brands President's Choice Green and President's Choice Organics. She has also developed numerous policy statements including for trans and sodium reduction that have helped shaped the brands into what they are today. Prior to joining Loblaws, Sherry spent 5 years with the Government as a Food Specialist and a Product Safety Specialist. This is where Sherry honed her regulatory skills. And before this, Sherry received a Bachelor of Science in Food Science, minor in Chemistry, from the University of Guelph. Sherry continues to proactively engage in education, having also received the designation of Certified Print Production Practitioner and a Masters in Business Administration.

Mrs. Carol Dombrow is currently a nutrition consultant for the Heart and Stroke Foundation both provincially in Ontario and nationally. She provides strategic advice and plays a leadership role in the development and maintenance of the Health Check Program's nutrition criteria and standards. She is also the Foundation's media spokesperson on nutrition issues and acts as the government liaison with Health Canada and CFIA. (1999 to present)
Mrs Dombrow previously held positions at the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario (HSFO), as Director of Health Promotion 1995-1998 and with the HSFO, as Manager of Nutrition (1989-1995).

Dr. Thérèsa Glanville is a Professor in the Department of Applied Human Nutrition, Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She holds a MSc in Clinical Nutrition from Boston University, and a PhD in Nutritional Biochemistry from the University of Toronto. Dr. Glanville is also a Registered Dietitian and a past member of the Board of Directors of Dietitians of Canada. Dr. Glanville teaches courses related to the Medical Nutrition Therapy and Nutritional Epidemiology at the undergraduate and graduate level. Dr. Glanville was a member of the Dietary Reference Intake Expert Advisory Committee convened by Health Canada to guide the development of Eating Well with Canada's Food Guide. Her research focuses on familial food management strategies, and methods to assess diet quality of Canadians.

Paul Hetherington is President and CEO of the Baking Association of Canada, a national not-for-profit trade association were he has since 1997 provided food safety and regulatory affairs expertise to Canada's baking sector. Throughout his tenure Paul has been called upon on numerous occasions to offer specialized input as a member of a variety of multi-stakeholder food and food safety programs including the Review Committee for the Canadian Food Safety and Quality Program, Can-Trace Food Traceability Steering Committee, Health Canada's Trans Task Force and most recently as a member of the Health Canada's Sodium Working Group. During his three years as a member of the Sodium Working Group, Paul harnessed industry technical input and provided expert advice on wide range of sodium reduction initiatives that were central to the Working Group's final recommendations. Prior to his current appointment, Paul was President of the Bakery Council of Canada from 1994 - 1997. Other Canadian food industry experience was acquired through varying levels of responsibility with the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers (1987-1994) including the position of Vice President. Paul holds a BA from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Mrs. Tanaka is Vice-President of Scientific & Regulatory Affairs as it relates to food and nutrition matters for the Food & Consumer Products of Canada.
In this role Mrs. Tanaka works with FCPC's food manufacturing member organizations to address science-based food and nutrition regulatory issues and bring industry's voice to government in consultations on key issues such as trans fats, allergen labelling and sodium. She is on the International Council of Grocery Manufacturers' Associations Technical Committee delegation to the Codex Committee on Food Labelling and Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses meetings.
Mrs. Tanaka began her career in food and nutrition at the University of Toronto in applied human nutrition research. In that capacity she co-authored four scientific manuscripts and seven abstracts related to these research projects. Over the past 25 years of her career she has worked with academia, the health professional community, the dairy and food manufacturing industry and government, gaining valuable insight into how each sector views and manages the key food and nutrition issues.
Mrs. Tanaka is a past Chair of the Board of Directors for Dieticians of Canada, past member of the governance board for the Agricultural Research Institute of Ontario, past member of Executive Committee and the Board of Directors for the Advance Food and Materials Network, Centre of Excellence.
She is a member of the college of Dietitians of Canada, Canadian Nutrition Society, Canadian Foundation of Dietetic Research and the American Dietetic Association.
Mrs. Tanaka obtained her Masters of Science in Nutritional Sciences in 1998 at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Kevin Willis has been with the Canadian Stroke Network, one of Canada's Networks of Centres of Excellence, for 10 years. Since 2005 he has lead the organizations campaign to raise awareness of the negative health impacts of a high dietary intake of sodium. Prior to joining the Network he held senior research management positions in the US biotechnology sector. Dr. Willis has a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Birmingham and a B.Sc. in Chemistry and Biochemistry for the University of Sheffield. His post-doctoral research was conducted at the Royal Institution of Great Britain and at the National Research Council of Canada. Published work includes contributions in the fields of protein biophysics, protein structure and function, and public health policy. Dr. Willis is an inventor on two issued patents. His work on sodium and health has been recognized with awards from Blood Pressure Canada and from Hypertension Canada.
