The Trilateral Cooperation is consolidating and maintaining a formal framework for cooperation in combating health fraud, so as to protect and promote the health and economic well being of citizens of all three nations and to identify appropriate lines of communication to ensure a continual exchange of information on compliance and enforcement activities between the three countries.

The agencies involved in this area of cooperation include:

  • Canada - Health Products and Food Branch of Health Canada, and the Competition Bureau
  • Mexico - Federal Commission for the Protection from Sanitary Risks (COFEPRIS ), and the Federal Office of the Judge Advocate General of Consumers (PROFECO)
  • United States - Food and Drug Administration, and the Federal Trade Commission

The Trilateral Cooperation issued a news release to highlight the collaborative activities that it has undertaken to combat weight loss fraud over the last three years.
