Area of Cooperation

The Trilateral Cooperation serves the mutual interests of all three countries and provides a forum for participants to discuss effective means for achieving its mission. To avoid duplication and overlap, the Trilateral Cooperation does not deal with issues that are being discussed in other fora.

In choosing the areas of cooperation, the members of all three countries use four key criteria.

Each area must:

  • be a public health concern;
  • be of common concern to all three countries;
  • be solvable with realizable outcomes and within a reasonable time frame; and
  • not detract from discussions or processes in other fora.

Trilateral Cooperation is currently focussing on the areas of compliance; emergency preparedness and response; health fraud; laboratory cooperation; and training.
