Health Canada recognizes the important role healthy eating plays in promoting the health of children and youth. Numerous resources, including dietary guidance, research and reports and tools and resources, have been developed to support evidence-based policy and program development.

These articles highlight the importance of integrating action on healthy eating and physical activity within a broader comprehensive school health framework. They include key findings from scientific background papers, which provided the evidence to inform the development of the
2008 WHO School Policy Framework. The articles acknowledge that further research is needed to strengthen the evidence base to inform future programs and policies.
