1. Application

The following information is offered as a supplement to all methods that detect Salmonella in food, food ingredients and environmental samples and must be used with these methods. The purpose of this supplement is to provide additional information (such as source(s) of materials, critical steps, confirmation steps, or helpful hints etc.).

Note: Due to safety and environmental issues associated with the use of Selenite Cystine, all Official Methods (such as MFO-6, MFO-10, MFO-11 and MFO-12) that detect Salmonella must be replaced with the method MFHPB-20.
