Status of First Nations Control Activity
- 83% of eligible First Nations Communities are involved in the First Nations Control Process.
- 46% of First Nations Communities have assumed greater responsibility for their health care resources through Transfer Agreements
(139 Signed Community-Based Transfer Agreements representing 279 First Nations Communities and 19 Agreements for Treatment Programs, Hospitals and 2nd/3rd Level Services)
- 33% of First Nations Communities have signed Integrated Community-Based Health Services Contribution Agreements (169 Agreements representing 199 First Nations Communities). (Also in the Yukon there are 4 Integrated agreements involving 4 communities.)
- 4% of First Nations Communities have signed Self-Government Agreements (13 Agreements representing 23 First Nations Communities)
Treatment Services Transfer Agreements Activity South of 60°
- 21% of all treatment services have been transferred.
- 19% of National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program (NNADAP) Treatment Centres are transferred. (Eleven out of 58 Treatment Centres transferred.)
- 40% of Hospitals have been transferred. (Two out of 5 Hospitals transferred.)
Note: Three Hospitals have been closed.
