The Facts about Tobacco

Almost 70% of Aboriginal people smoke. So, the rate of cigarette-related death and disease is even higher than in the non-Aboriginal population.

Second-hand Smoke Campaigns

We have created several advertising products to inform Aboriginal people of the facts about second-hand smoke.

Help on accessing alternative formats, such as Portable Document Format (PDF), Microsoft Word and PowerPoint (PPT) files, can be obtained in the alternate format help section.

"We all agree. Cigarette smoke is dangerous."

"Is A Smokefree Workplace Too Much To Ask For?"
If the warning labels that you find on cigarette packs suddenly appeared in places you never expected, would you stop and think twice before lighting up around others? You should, because second-hand smoke is harmful to all who come in contact with it -- even your co-workers or people who serve you in restaurants. They have no choice but to breathe the 4,000 chemicals found in second-hand smoke -- and that's dangerous to their health. So please think twice before smoking cigarettes around others.

"Please Don't Smoke Around Those You Love."
If the warning labels that you find on cigarette packs suddenly appeared in places you never expected, would you stop and think twice before lighting up around others? You should, because second-hand smoke is harmful to all who come in contact with it -- even an unborn child. Please think twice before you smoke around others.
