A Proposal to Regulate Little Cigars under the Tobacco (Access) Regulations

Notice to the reader: This online consultation is now closed. The results of the consultation are available. The content found on this page is a snapshot of the live consultation as it was presented to the public during the consultation period.

Health Canada is proposing to amend the Tobacco (Access) Regulations to restrict youth access to little cigars. The Tobacco (Access) Regulations support the Tobacco Act, and are designed to reduce the availability of tobacco products particularly to youth. The main goal of this proposed regulatory amendment is to prescribe a minimum number of little cigars that may be sold in a package, and to define little cigars. The proposed amendment would result in package restrictions similar to those that exist for cigarettes.

How can I get involved?

Interested parties are encouraged to provide comments and suggestions on the proposal presented in the consultation document by July 30, 2008.
