2009-2010 Drug Strategy Community Initiatives Fund (DSCIF) Call for Proposals - Ontario

Within the context of the DSCIF funding streams and priorities, Ontario will place high priority on the following target populations:

  • Youth outside of the school/education system;
  • Youth disconnected from mainstream services, culture, peers or community;
  • Aboriginal (off reserve only) and/or street involved youth;
  • Gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and two-spirited youth.

Low priority will be given to proposals in Ontario that:

  • Focus on one-off presentations/events/conferences/workshops;
  • Focus solely on the production or development of media, social marketing and websites;
  • Focus on targeted/specific illicit drugs without relevant statistical evidence or prevalence or need.

When assessing proposal submissions, priority will be placed on proposals that:

  • Demonstrate significant impact / focus on knowledge exchange across affected communities;
  • Have clearly defined partnerships;
  • Are evidence-informed and are able to contribute to a promising practices and/or innovative models;
  • Use a community development approach to ensure direct youth participation and engagement.

Ontario will be accepting project proposals until July 31, 2009 for projects with a planned start date of April 2010.
