Drug Treatment Funding Program (DTFP)

The Drug Treatment Funding Program (DTFP) provides $121 million over five years to provincial, territorial (P/T) governments and other key stakeholders to assist in strengthening treatment systems and invest in early intervention treatment services for at-risk youth.

Health Canada recognizes the importance of continued investments in drug treatment programming and is working closely with P/T governments and other key stakeholders in this regard.

Current Status of the Call for Proposals

A call letter to P/T government representatives was sent in April 2008 and a National Call for Proposals was launched in 2009 inviting the submission of proposals under the DTFP. Under the current terms and conditions of the program, funded DTFP projects are scheduled to end in March 2013. Please note that the April 2008 Call for Proposals is closed.

The Government of Canada is committed to ensuring that people who are addicted to illicit drugs get the help they need by improving access to quality treatment services and effective approaches to treating individuals who pose a risk to themselves, their families and their communities.
