Bob's Story

Bob is a fictional character based on an average Canadian smoker. He is 47 years old, married, and has two children. He started smoking in high school when he was 14 because it was the thing to do. By the time he was a young adult, he was puffing more than a pack a day.

Now he finds himself coughing more and more, and is often short of breath. This concerns him. He's worried about lung cancer and heart disease.

He smokes outside so he doesn't expose his wife and kids to second-hand smoke.

He has attempted to quit a couple of times, but without a plan he wasn't successful. Since then, he had serious doubts he'd ever be able to give up cigarettes for good.

Now Bob knows it's time to get really serious. Even his kids are applying pressure. His kids are teenagers, so he wants to be a good role model for them, and he wants to be around to see them grow up.

And so Bob has come to a point in his life where he realizes it's time to quit for good. He knows it's going to take more than just willpower -- he's beginning to understand that he needs to find additional help to quit. He knows he needs a plan - a life plan.
