Health Infostructure Support Program
Technology has a vital role in the modernization of Canada's health system, in areas such as: disease treatment, service delivery, information management, and client and family caregiver information and education. Specifically, this technology has the potential to change the way in which home care services are delivered and managed. The access to information and expertise by formal health care providers; the tools and methods of educating the public; and the number of client visits can all be significantly affected by new technologies.
The project will build and develop an interactive web site for diabetic patients being cared for at home. Clients will be taught how use the web site through a 'learning lab' to support their care at home. Personal and private data on the web site will be secured through encryption technology and will be password protected.
Project Funding under HISP: $449,600.00
