Health Infostructure Support Program
The Ontario Public Health Association Food Security Working Group comprises health professionals and community organizations active in defining a provincial agenda for food security. The working group establishes links among stakeholders and is building a voluntary infrastructure to respond to strategic food security issues. The goals of the working group reflect the goals of the National Nutrition for Health Agenda for Action published in 1996 as well as those being articulated in the development of the Canadian Action Plan for Food Security. Links are established with the national plan and with the global network for food security.
The 18-month pilot study will link Ontario organizations, in order to facilitate information exchange and action around food security in Ontario. There are three goals for a food and nutrition strategy for Ontario:
