Project: Prescription & Assessment of Technical Aids Using Internet Video

Health Infostructure Support Program

Background

The widespread use of advanced telecommunications services has the potential to allow New Brunswick residents to take advantage of and use the Internet to its full capacity in the provision of province wide health care services.

Project Description

The objective of the project is to stimulate the use of advanced information technologies and applications in the health field by developing and testing the use of Internet based interactive video connections to link clients at home and in remote communities with health care professionals. The 12-month project will assess the use of connections which allow multi-unit communication for client support groups, or three way conversations between client, health care provider, and technical support. The project will use main stream video and Internet technology to integrate clients with health care professionals. The use of video technology in the health care field is considered innovative.
