Health Infostructure Support Program
The Upper Skeena Primary Care Health Information Project is a pilot project of the Wrinch Memorial Doctors Clinic. Wrinch Memorials Doctors Clinic is a non-profit primary care clinic operated by the United Church Health Services in an area of northern rural British Columbia, primarily populated by First Nations people. The vision was to develop an innovative approach to primary care data that would lead to better means of evaluating care, outcome measures, and innovation in the provision of care.
The Upper Skeena Primary Care Health Information Project will gather, in a confidential manner, health information from each primary care client, correlate the information, and make it available, in encrypted form, over the internet. The information will be available to other primary care clinics, government agencies, and other approved health agencies for comparison and evaluation purposes. Clinics, governments, and other health care agencies will have up to date primary care health information to evaluate the quality of care for research purposes, and to set goals for the delivery of primary health care in the future.
